• Question: is the hadron colider bad?

      Some crazy people have been going around saying it is bad, but that is because they don’t understand it.

      I am not crazy, I do understand it, and I promise you that it is not bad.

      Why would it be bad? I think it will come up with some amazing scientific discoveries – ones that could change the way we think about us and the universe.

      I’m sure Lily has had to tell it off sometimes, when it’s misbehaving….

      There was a lot of publicity about how it was going to create a black hole that would destroy the world etc., but this is just the media trying to find an interesting angle on a science story. Talking about particle physics wouldn’t interest most people (me included…), but as soon a syou put some angle like “you’re all going to die because of mad scientists!”, people will sit up and take notice.
