Yeah I really enjoy the work that I do – it’s really cool finding out things that no one has ever known beore and trying to work out how the world works

Yeah, I really like the people I work with. Some of the nicest and funniest people I’ve met are geeks.

I did have a good time working in science. My favorite part was learning about a new problem, reading a lot and talking to people about it. In my job now I still do that all the time, I just don’t do experiments anymore and the topics are more varied.

I do! Studying biology and specialising in environmental science helps me to understand the world and take an interest in things beyond me. It certainly gives you a perspective on life and puts you in awe of the natural world and how awesome it is!!

You can do, but like any job, there are good times and bad times. It is great when an experiment works and you get the result you hoped for (or maybe a different result, but one that is really exciting…). But there are also lots of boring things to do, like paperwork, grant applications – all that admin stuff. But you have to do that in order to have the good stuff too, so you just get on with it.

I really enjoy giving talks, explaining stuff and answering questions – it’s great when you know the answer, but better when you don’t, but you figure it out as you’re talking!
