The galaxy that we live in has lots of stars (about 200 billion – that 200,000,000,000!), and lots of those are like our Sun. Many of them will have planets, and some of those planets will be like the Earth – so just within our galaxy there are probably many planets like our Earth. But they may not have any life on them…

What that means is that, if we evere manage to travel to other stars, we may find planets with water and air, where humans could live. The search for life is even more difficult, but there are certainly enough planets out there where we might one day be able to live – if only we could get there…

I don’t know, the earth is a pretty special place but since the universe is so big I suppose there could be.

We’ve been looking for signs of life on other planets for a long time and haven’t found anything yet.

Yes I think there is almost certainly another planet similar to this one and I also think there is very, very likely to be alien life out there.

Astronomers have already found hundreds of ‘extrasolar’ planets. (That means planets orbiting other stars),

To harbour life a planet has to be in the ‘habitable zone’, which means it has to be not too near or too far from the star which it is orbitting.

So these are the extrasolar planets astronomers are concentrating on.

It’s quite possible as there are loads of planets out there – that said the conditions on our world are quite specific so it’s possible not not necessarily likely.

I think in the universe there will be other planets with conditions which could allow life to bloom. I doubt other humans exist. Instead it will be life-form that could be quite different from ours.
