A chemistry degree takes 3 or 4 years. A PhD is the same again.

It will take 3-4 years to do a degree – then some people go and become a chemist in industry – others stay on to do a pHd taking 3-4 further years
As for is it hard – yes and no. If you are interested and enjoy it you’ll do well
