At the LHC we are recreating conditions microseconds after the big bang, but not the big bang itself!

Just after the big bang is as far back as we can go before everything becomes very strange indeed. Microseconds after the universe was born, it was made entriely of something called the quark-gluon plasma. This stuff was so hot and dense, it wasn’t a liquid or a solid or a gas but something else entirely. The ALICE experiement at the LHC is studying this.
