      I don’t work on inventions. Not all scientists do this. Instead I analyse the environmental implications of new science. If I did do inventions I would be developing a new engine that runs on cleaner fuel rather than oil which contributes to bad air quality and climate change.

      I don’t invent things really

      I’m currently working on understanding how bacteria sense the world and how they split the sensors between cells when the cells divide.

      I’m trying to listen to the data coming from the ATLAS detector. It will be like listening to the first sounds of the universe if I get it right.

      Unfortunately I’m not an “inventing” sort of scientist, although I have developed lots of new science education projects – but nothing exciting that will make loads of money or help people in any significant way unfortunately.
