      It’s the burning of a fuel usually with Oxygen and usually with the production of heat

      It’s basically means burning. You need a fuel which combines with oxygen at a high temperature which releases heat.

      We normally think of it as being when something burns, but a more proper definition is “When substances combine with oxygen and release energy”.
