When I was at primary school the caretaker used to spread a kind of superglue on the window ledges to trap (and then kill) the pigeons. When I found out I decided to `save the pigeons’ by attempting to scrape off the glue using my bare hands, which of course got stuck together. The school nurse spent the entire afternoon trying to prise my hands apart without ripping my skin off.

I used to get into trouble for chewing gum. For some reason the school I went to really didn’t like it. I think it has something to do with the fact that every radiator and desk used to get covered in it. Not that I ever disposed of my gum in that way…. I had a particularly bad relationship with my history teacher who I drove up the wall with my gum addiction and would regularly shove a bin under my face so I could spit it out. Apart from that I was a good girl!

I got in trouble for cutting class more than once… and for smoking cigarettes on school property. I earned myself a few weeks of cleaning bathrooms for all that and some un-fun meetings with my school principal and parents.

Looking back it wasn’t worth the trouble so I certainly did learn my lesson.
