Too much – well I guess we’ll die out as a species as we’ll be unable to make food or breath air.

I doubt we as a species will let that happen though

I think there is already too much pollution, because fish are dying and people are getting sick.

I suppose it could get much worse, and then maybe we will all die. Or we could stop it!

That’s a hard question because how do you define “too much”? Many people would argue there is already too much. Man-made chemicals used in industries have been found in polar bears living in the artic and in the milk of mothers. Some believe this is unacceptable. Others believe without these chemicals we would not be as rich and have improved the quality of life for people as much. What is known is that pollution in the environment affects human health and the health of biodiversity. Regulations and improved technologies are and will help to solve this problem.

Plenty of people already think there’s too much pollution on earth. That’s why some scientists study how to reduce or remove pollution.

We won’t damage the actual Earth itself (the solid ball of rock and iron), but we will damage the biospere – the bit that keeps things alive, like the atmosphere and the oceans. If we keep polluting these, we will eventually make it impossible for life to survive, so we really need to do something pretty radical, and pretty quickly, before we cause so much damage that we can’t reverse it.
