Great question! I would have loved to have invented the internet. It’s changed the world so much. It enables people to communicate and learn. I love the fact that the real inventor, Tim Berners-Lee, invented it to help researchers share data, has not made much money out of it and had no idea how his invention would be used by people and taken up so whole heartedly.

I guess the most important inventions have been of drugs: I can’t imagine how horrible life was before we had painkillers and other medicines.

Then again, where would be without the lightbulb?

I would really love to invent a device that disables cars. I think that is the only way we will be able to stop people driving. It wouldn’t work on ambulances, obviously. Or buses.

      Good one!
Computers I guess. I’m still shocked that computers exist, I have no understanding of how electrons make all this happen!

The iPod, or otherwise the Xbox – then my kids would really see the value of science!

      Oooooh that’s a good one?

Can I say dynamite? That way there would be the Roberts prize rather than the Nobel prize.
