The Moon and stars are always up there in the sky, but sometimes they are not visible from our location (so they might be visible from say America or Australia, but not the UK at that particular time of day or night). We can’t see the stars during the day because the Sun’s light is so much brighter, but we see the Moon because it reflects sunlight – so when it is visible from the UK during daylight hours, we will be able to see it because it reflects sunlight – it will look dim and ghostly, but it will still be visible.

In fact, I was looking at the Moon on Monday afternoon at a public astronomy event in Cardiff – even with a small telescope it looks pretty impressive!
