I suppose they are considered to be `expendable’ ie people don’t really care about them and are happy to cut them up. Also they have a vaguely similar anatomy to humans (backbone, skin, muscle, heart etc.) so we can learn about human biology by cutting them up.

When I was at school they gave me a mouse to disect. I couldn’t do it.

Well they are quite interesting to dissect and have similar aspects to our bodies

They are plentiful so not endangered and also people are less worried about frogs than say mice

So I guess those are the reasons they are used

Good question. I guess because it is small, common and contains organs of interest. Maybe its also because most people don’t find them cute so there’s less emotional attachment to them.

Why frogs? I’m not sure. Maybe because frogs are abundant, not endangered and have easy-to-see parts?

I guess they don’t run away as fast as some of the other small creatures….
